It's Official: April is a good month.

I can't believe tomorrow is already April! I've got big plans for this month and am so excited we are one step closer to summer! I typed up some of the things I want my favorite things about April, printed it on a piece of cardstock and put in a picture frame to act as motivation! Isn't the color sterotypical color scheme for April so fabulous? Just looking at pastels calms me down and makes me happy!

This is also a big month for sports!
Opening Day, The Final Four Championship,
The Masters, The Frozen Four, NFL draft...

Do you have any big April plans?

It's Official: We have a school bag issue.

One of the best things about Tumblr is that questions and conversation between users is common--almost encouraged. So the other day when somebody asked me what I use for a school bag, it really tripped me up. What is my ideal school bag? Do I have a favorite?!

I try my best not to bring my computer to class because it just leads to distractions so most days I honestly don't even use a standard school bag. Instead I just use a purse tall enough or wide enough for a couple notebooks, my planner, and a couple pencils. I am a very organized person so that last thing I want is a heavy purse full of junk.

However, when I do lug around my computer I like to use my Vera Bradley bag
because the sturdy bottom can hold a lot of weight. Plus I love that it is bright!!
I also really love my Francesca Joy Tote!

If you are like me and don't use a backpack, I think these brands make some other great options:
Dooney and Bourke is seriously growing on me!

It's Official: Friends don't let friends miss out on Etsy.

Through my many favorite Etsy shops, namely Little EDevon Baer, and Francesca Joy, I have become utterly obsessed with Etsy. I find so much more joy in buying handmade and personal items, knowing that mine is unique, versus buying from a large corporate brand.

And, in a hunt to find some new favorites, I stumbled across the ultimate source for paper goods at Sparrow Nest Script. It is quite possible that the Harry Potter notebook/bookmark is the most brilliant and beautiful thing I've ever seen!! I can only hope she eventually make a Hunger Games version!!

It's calling my name...!!

Do you have a favorite Etsy shop?

It's Official: Earn your stripes.

I realized yesterday that almost everything I wear has some sort of striped element to it. I guess I really like stripes! Probably because they are easy to match and are more fun than solids. Plus, it's helpful that they are versatile. For instance, a striped blazer could be dressed up while a striped t-shirt would be more comfortable and dressed down.

Have you seen any fun striped pieces lately?

It's Official: I'm in need of a Castaway Clothing skirt.

When I recently heard about Castaway Clothing and saw their anchor skirt, I knew I had found something special.  The brand even sells Smathers and Branson belts! Now that is a winning combination!

I've always found skirts to be of the most comfortable outfit choices a closet can offer. I live for skirts! And, this anchor one in particular fits wonderfully into the theme of the rest of my new goodies!

You can also get the skirt with pineapples, margaritas, whales, toucans or palm trees!!
They also sell adorable seersucker and madras shorts and/or burmudas! How precious.
I wonder how they fit...

Have you ever purchased from Castaway Clothing?

It's Official: Dooney and Bourke has school spirit.

When I went on my vacation to Florida, one store that really surprised me was Dooney and Bourke. I don't remember the last time I really heard anything about the brand and don't normally consider it when thinking about where to shop. However, I really enjoy their new stuff!

This might be sacrilegious in the prep world but... I think I might even like their nylon totes more than Longchamp. Don't get me wrong, both brands are great but I really love the two-tone idea of Dooney and Bourke. It's perfect for representing your school colors!

Does Dooney and Bourke support your school?!

It's Official: I'm dreaming of starfish.

For some reason I've really been into starfish lately. Maybe it's because they are inherently nautical? I'm not really sure but I've been seeing the pattern everywhere and am so excited that the trend is spreading. It looks so cute on a variety of different items. Here are some of my current favorites:
The new Lilly Pulitzer 'Pink Twinkle' print looks enough like a starfish to me!

It's Official: Outfit of the day.

I know not everyone is interested in The Hunger Games (although I want to convert you) so I'm also posting an OOTD from this week. I'm so excited that spring is out in full force this year because I finally got a chance to wear the dress Judith March sent me!! It is easily one of my favorites - so comfortable and so cute! And, with the seersucker, who could resist?
Dress: Judith March
Cardigan: J. Crew
Headband: Forever 21
Sandals: Jack Rogers

It's Official: The Hunger Games exceeded my expectations.

I went to The Hunger Games premiere with my midnight crew last night and oh! my! gosh! It was sensational (I even cried!) and I recommend everyone try to see it this weekend. I was worried beforehand that the movie wouldn't do the book justice but this was not at all the case. If possible, I think I might even like the book more!? Now that is a first!
Found this picture here and immediately set it as my photo background

Only theaters 1-12 were open to set the mood! Such a great idea.
I didn't dress up but wore my hair in a Katniss inspired braid!
I asked some other amazing fans at our theater if I could photograph their costumes.

How can you not just love that spirit?

Did you see The Hunger Games?
What did you think?!

It's Official: Kate Spade makes my heart sing.

I've played tennis my whole life so the new Kate Spade tennis collection really hit home with me. It's extra exciting because they didn't just make one or two items - they went all out!! The line has purses, makeup bags, clutches, totes, satchels, iPhone covers, iPad covers, bracelets, necklaces, keychains, earrings...

Glory days!!

It's Official: I know what I want for my birthday.

My birthday isn't actually for awhile so this kind of an outrageous advance request but I'm LOVING Sheridan French dresses and tunics right now! I'm obsessed with all the bright colors, the contrasting, the beading and I think we can all agree that the elbow patches are just to. die. for.

On another note...
The Hunger Games comes out tonight!!!!
Is anyone else going at midnight?!

It's Official: Reduce, Reuse, Re-Lilly.

With Lilly Pulitzer prices often hard to justify, I think the Re-Lilly Group is a fabulous idea and perfect for college students. The Facebook group is a place for Lilly lovers to exchange new and old pieces. The best part? You can buy/sell clothing in any size as well as your jewelry, totes, giftware or shoes. What a wonderful way to get rid of an old print and perk up your closet with a new one!
I'm usually pretty freaked out about buying used clothing but, I don't think most Lilly pieces are worn in situations where they would get excessive damage. Plus, you can assume most people take pretty good care of their Lilly because it is on the expensive side. If you still have concerns, the whole thing is set up through Facebook so just ask questions and work out a return policy with your seller before purchasing anything.
If anyone wants to sell me the Adeline Dress or
the Millie Jacket for cheap, I'm all for it!
I haven't had a Facebook for over two years (crazy, I know!)
so am I just the last one to hear about this?
Have you ever bought anything from the group?

It's Official: I look like a tulip.

Yesterday my good friend and I (hi Sam!) shared a bonding moment over the ridiculous amount of items we're currently loving at J. Crew. It never ceases to amaze me that the company can manage to make such pretty and fresh pieces year after year... after year....
OOTD:
Jean jacket: Levi's
Bracelets (left to right): Little ELily DawsonSwarovski
Sandals: Jack Rogers

I'm currently obsessed with my scallop sateen skirt so I think it's only fair that I invest in the shorts
I also really, really, really, LOVE these fushica gingham shorts!

What are your current J.Crew favs?

It's Official: Welcome to pastel season.

Now that St. Patrick's Day is over we can all give a big, warm, welcome to April, Easter, and pastel season. Luckily Madewell makes it easy to jump into this trend with their adorable true love shrunken oxfords. Simply tuck them into the skirt or shorts of your choice, throw in some fun studded earrings, add a pair of ballet flats and you've got yourself the perfect daytime look.

One shirt, three ways!
