It's Official: The two easiest sock buns you'll ever attempt.

The newest trend going viral in the blogosphere is the "sock bun." If you haven't heard of it, it's exactly what it sounds like, a bun made with the help of a sock. I will gladly admit that I have had so much fun trying out different styles! As I've said before, I'm not one for hair and makeup but after my first tutorial (remember my fishtail braid?!) I thought I would attempt another. I really adore the super tight and perfect ballerina inspired buns but on myself I prefer it a little more messy and carefree.

Sock bun #1 (no rolling involved)
Secure your hair in a pony tail...
Slide the donut to the top your pony.
Drape all of your hair around the sock donut. Make sure all sides of the donut are covered with hair and your sock is not peeping through. Secure with another elastic - letting remaining hair waterfall outward.
Gather exess hair and braid it however you please (again, fishtail braid directions here!!)
Wrap the braid around the base of the bun and secure with bobby pins.
Tah-da!

Sock bun #2 (shh, no sock involved)
You can now BUY THE DOUGHNUTS!!!
This doughnut two-pack (which also comes in white for blondes)
is awesome. Considering the price, I can't see how anyone could resist!?
These doughnuts help with trickier versions of the sock bun and make
the difficult part (rolling your hair) a much more simple task.

They are everywhere!!
Would you try it?
Would you buy a doughnut?

  1. I think I really need a hair doughnut, haha, I am absolutely awful at sock buns! Love the inspiration photos, though. :)

  2. Ahh thanks for the tutorial! I used to have one of the doughnuts that you buy, and I don't know what happened to it but I'll have to get another one! I'll have to try the first one too!

  3. I got a doughnut from H&M and I love it! I use it all the time-especially when my hair is frizzing out from the humid summer weather!

  5. Very very cute! I like the way you put the braid around the bun. Gonna have to try that! I've been making sock buns for years now and they are so easy to make... now if I can only find where I put it....
