...you have a huge to-do list but end up envying Gretchen on The Real Housewives of Orange County all night.
With summer so close and the nice weather approaching, I think just about everyone is on their last nerve with school and/or work. Personally, I have been having a hard time staying concentrated on any task at hand. The littlest things magically make one (or four) precious hours fly by. However, there is no better feeling than ending a day knowing you did accomplish something. Here are my five tips on doing just that:
1. Plan! Get into a habit of writing down what you need to do, even if its on a post-it note! If I had a dollar for every time I've sworn I wouldn't forget something, and then I did... I now successfully use a Russell and Hazel planner customized to the Nth degree. For a similar, and great, starter planner try Sarah Pinto.
2. Invest in a watch. Stopping to find, look and "check the time" on your phone can develop into a very pesky, distracting habit. If you don't like they way watches look, try just keeping one nearby/in your purse. On top of reducing a lot of aimless time, owning a watch will help you figure out what time of the day you work best.
3. Own at least two handbags. Everyone deserves one big and one small bag they love. Fill the correct size bag with everything you need, no more and no less. Regardless of the size of your to-do list, don't be tempted to pack anything other than what you really need, leaving you no choice but getting to work. There are always an abundance of totes in the beginning of summer so start looking now! The sailboat tote pictured is Milly but for a less expensive choice I love this American Eagle one.
4. Wear an outfit that is comfortable yet proper. If your scrubby/sneaking around hoping you won't see anyone important, you'll flee all public areas and thus resort back to the comfort of your home and the endless amount of distractions. Find what you feel comfortable in and stick to it; success will follow.
5. Acknowledge that you can only do so much. A sleepless night won't solve anything so take breaks, supply your cravings, ask for help, do your best and don't forget to emphasize what you do know!
