It's Official: I was born in the wrong decade.

I tried my very hardest to avoid all Royal Wedding talk but it's just become unavoidable. Thankfully the wedding day is finally here so we can, god-willing, start talking about something else.  Especially at a time when there are a bajillion (yes, bajillion) other newsworthy stories, both foreign and domestic, I just cannot find any significance in the hoopla over this. I must have been born in the wrong decade.

To further rant and defend my American patriotism, I think its necessary to say that Kate will never trump Jackie. They have similar traits but I would much rather have the symbolic status of First Lady any day. As JFK rose to power and women's rights shortened hemlines around the country, Jackie popularized that classic style many still attempt to emulate today. She was so innocent yet powerful in her cashmere coats, scarfs, gloves, brooches, pillbox hat and bright shift dresses. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Edit: So, I posted this before the wedding and after watching (yeah, I caved) I felt kind of cynical and evil about what I said. It was so uplifting to see everyone looking so peaceful and radiant and happy. Kate looked so stunning and I do wish the couple a life together as flawless as their reception.
